MITCHELL — A pair of double-doubles lifted the Kimball/White Lake boys basketball team to a 55-40 win at Mitchell Christian on Saturday.
The Wildkats made good use of a size advantage, as 6-foot-5 Blake Leiferman put up 16 points and 11 rebounds as 6-foot-3 Jaxon Pursell wasn’t far behind with 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Wildkats, who have now won three of their last four and six of eight since an 0-3 start. Jaxon Christensen, at 6-foot-2, chipped in 12 points and seven rebounds.
Braedon Nebelsick put up a double-double of his own, as the Golden Eagle sophomore guard scored 21 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. KWL limited Mitchell Christian’s leading scorer Aiden Lieber to eight points with seven rebounds and four steals.
KWL (6-5) is back on the road to take on Colome on Tuesday, Jan. 31, while Mitchell Christian (4-8) visits Gayville-Volin on Monday.

Girls basketball
- Milbank’s Maurina Street recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds alongside 17 points from Tyra Berry and 13 points, five rebounds and four assists from Isabella Anderson as the Bulldogs topped Dakota Valley, 53-43, at the Sacred Hoops Classic in Sioux Falls. The Panthers’ Ella Reifenrath had 19 points and five rebounds in the loss.
- Adriana Ratigan (23) and Ashley Haven (13) combined for 36 points for Northwestern in the Wildcats’ 64-48 win over Potter County.
Boys basketball
- Both coming off the bench, Gavin Soukup led all scorers with 16 points while Colton Smith notched 13 points and 10 rebounds to help Mitchell to a 72-48 win over Rapid City Central.
- Madison's Aiden Jensen racked up 41 points, 14 rebounds, three assists, four steals and one block as Ben Brooks had 11 points, six rebounds and nine assists in the Bulldogs' 74-48 win over Tiospa Zina.
- Flandreau Indian’s Malik Longie dropped 53 points in the Indians 91-54 win over Takini in the seventh-place game at the Dakota Oyate Challenge in Huron. Longie didn’t hit a single 3-pointer, knocking down 21 2s and going 11-for-20 at the free-throw line.
- Kaden Year put up 23 points on 8 of 11 shooting from the floor for Sioux Falls Jefferson, as the Cavaliers took down Sioux Falls Roosevelt 63-60. Griffin Wilde and Taylen Ashley contributed 19 and 14 points, respectively.
- A 24-point outing from Brayden Pankonen led Dell Rapids to a 65-31 win over Aberdeen Roncalli at the Dak XII/NEC Clash, in Madison.
- Trey Johnson (19), Noah Haynes (17) and Carter Sorenson (13) combined to net 49 points in Tri-Valley’s 70-31 win over Sisseton at the Dak XII/NEC Clash, in Madison.
