Area basketball roundup for Feb. 11: ACDC girls take home Great Plains Conference championship

CORSICA, S.D. — Andes Central/Dakota Christian won a tightly contested game on Saturday in the Great Plains Conference Classic championship game over third-ranked Centerville, 44-42.

Josie Brouwer had 15 points, with Halle Olson adding 11 points and nine rebounds for the Thunder. Allison Mackey had 10 points for ACDC, which has won 15 of its last 16 games, and trailed 31-29 after three quarters after leading 20-19 at halftime.

Thea Gust had 17 points for the Tornadoes, while Lillie Eide had seven points. Bailey Hansen had 14 rebounds for Centerville.

ACDC (15-2) plays at Ethan on Monday, Feb. 13. Centerville (13-5) hosts Dell Rapids St. Mary on Feb. 14.

• Also at the GPC Classic, Scotland defeated Avon, 52-49. Martina DeBoer had 16 points and Jenna Vitek had 13 points for the Highlanders, while Courtney Sees had a game-high 23 points. 
• Corsica-Stickney won on its home floor at the Great Plains Conference Classic, 60-37, over Burke. Avery Broughton had 22 points and 11 rebounds and Sutten Eide and Sydney Spaans each had eight points for the Jaguars, who are now 10-8. 
• Tripp-Delmont/Armour won 39-37 over Alcester-Hudson, powered by 18 points and seven steals from Megan Reiner and 13 points and 11 rebounds from Mia Reiner. Elly Doering had 16 points for the Cubs. 
• Hawk Bair scored 16 points for Marty in a 58-41 win over Freeman Academy/Marion. Jada Koerner had 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Bearcats. 
• Gayville-Volin won 58-29 over Colome, with 18 points from Taylor Hoxeng and 16 points from Maia Achen. 
• A 22-point showing from Claire Sheppard helped move Flandreau past Clark/Willow Lake, 59-34. Lizzie Pavlis tacked on 14 points and 12 rebounds in the win.
• Avery Orth’s 22 points and Kate Havlik’s 19 points helped Wessington Springs edge Hitchcock-Tulare, 62-46.
• Despite a 60-57 overtime loss to Tri-Valley, Milbank's Maurina Street poured in 31 points, going 14-for-14 from the free-throw line.

• Elkton-Lake Benton’s Carson Griffith tallied 23 points as the Elks downed Garretson, 61-48.
• Daniel Gerbracht scored 23 points on 11-for-15 shooting and pulled down nine rebounds for Sunshine Bible Academy, as the Crusaders beat Sioux Falls Lutheran, 54-52, for their first varsity win in three years.
• As Yankton took down Rapid City Central, 74-53, Rugby Ryken dropped 22 points and 12 rebounds.
• Harrisburg’s Braeden VanBockern picked up 23 points on 8-for-11 shooting as the Tigers beat Rapid City Stevens, 67-43.
