MITCHELL — After wrapping up their regular-season schedules on Monday night, the Mitchell Post 18 Legion and Junior Legion are set for the first round of the playoffs.
With a 23-13 overall record (15-6 against South Dakota competition), Post 18 secured the No. 3 seed in the Legion bracket and will host No. 14 Aberdeen (9-16 versus South Dakota competition) on Friday and Saturday in Mitchell.
Meanwhile, the Junior Legion (16-13 overall, 11-11 versus South Dakota) has the No. 11 seed and will travel west to take on the No. 4 seed Rapid City Post 22 Expos (15-2 versus South Dakota).
When Mitchell and Aberdeen met on June 10 at Cadwell Park, Post 18 swept the doubleheader with 7-3 and 8-0 victories. On the Junior Legion side, Mitchell and Post 22 did not meet during the regular season.
Both Post 18 teams will compete in a best-of-three games series, with Game 1 to be played Friday and Games 2 and 3 (if necessary) to be played Saturday, with times to be determined.
