SEWARD, Neb. --The Dakota Wesleyan University women’s soccer team had one shot on goal against Concordia (Neb.), but it was the only shot needed.
Alondra Partida placed a ball on goal that snuck past Bulldog keeper Lindsey Carley 49 minutes, 42 seconds into the match and it stood as the lone goal of the game as DWU edged Concordia 1-0 on Saturday in Great Plains Athletic Conference action.
DWU (5-1, 3-1 GPAC) withheld every Bulldog flurry, losing the battle in total shots 20-6 and corner kicks 9-3. Keeper Alissa Betz was up to the task, however, as she stopped all seven shots sent in her direction.
The win moved the Tigers into a tie for second place in the GPAC standings with Concordia (3-2, 3-1), trailing only Briar Cliff, which gave DWU its lone loss of the season three days earlier.
DWU hosts Northwestern at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex.
