Parkston, Winner qualify for Class A state meet

PIERRE--Led by Ellie Weidenbach's second-place finish, the Parkston girls golf team was the only team to card fewer than 400 strokes at the Region 3A golf meet on Tuesday.

PIERRE-Led by Ellie Weidenbach's second-place finish, the Parkston girls golf team was the only team to card fewer than 400 strokes at the Region 3A golf meet on Tuesday.

The Trojans shot a 385 as a team at the Hillsview Golf Course. Meanwhile, Mobridge-Pollock (402), which had the individual winner in Callie Weisbeck (82), and Winner (406) both qualified to the Class A state meet on June 3-4 in Aberdeen, too.

Along with Weidenbach's 87, Parkston had two other golfers shoot under a 100 on the day. Tylee Neugebauer (97) and Dani Norden (99) finished in seventh and 11th, respectively.

Addy Root (93) led the Warriors in fourth, while Rylee Root (97) and Cheyanne Dougherty (98) placed eighth and ninth, respectively.

Chamberlain didn't qualify to state as a team, but it will still send four golfers, including a pair of top-10 finishers. Taysa Hutmacher shot a 94 to place fifth and Delaney Petersen (98) finished in 10th. Wagner's Caitlyn Stimpson (89) took third and Emilea Cimpl (96) finished in sixth.
