DELL RAPIDS-The Parkston girls golf team pulled away from a tie with St. Thomas More and finished third at the Class A state tournament on Tuesday at Rocky Run Golf Course.
The Trojans and Cavaliers both shot 379s during the opening round on Monday. Parkston shaved seven strokes off its round on Tuesday to claim third place with a 751. St. Thomas More shot a 755.
Belle Fourche, which shot a 376 on Monday, recorded a 359 on Tuesday to earn the team title. Sioux Falls Christian placed second with a 747.
Jayden Bormann paced the Trojans with a 173, including an 85 on Tuesday. Parkston's Ellie Weidenbach (182) placed 16th and Tylee Neugebauer (191) tied for 22nd.
Wagner's Caitlyn Simpson and Winner's Ronae Klein tied for 11th place with 176s. McCook Central/Montrose's Katie Reif and Chamberlain's Averie Larson tied for 24th with 192s.
