Outlaws beat C/S/A/P, fall to Parkston

The Mount Vernon/Woonsocket/Sanborn Central high school baseball team defeated Corsica/Stickney/Armour/Plankinton Tuesday in Corsica.

The Outlaws defeated C/S/A/P 8-7 in a regional game.

Cody London picked up the win for the Outlaws, tossing five innings. He allowed seven hits and five earned runs. He walked two and struck out seven.

Nate Zens got the save, throwing two innings and allowing zero hits. He walked two and struck out three.

Zens went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs, Deric Denning had one hit with a triple and two RBIs, Justin Davis had a hit and a double and Cameron Deinert had a hit and an RBI.

Kyle Gerlach had two hits and Jake Sonne had two hits and an RBI.

Luke Bamberg was the losing pitcher. He threw five innings and gave up seven hits, five earned runs and two walks. He struck out two.

Keifer Johnson was 1-for-4 with double and two RBIs. Bamberg had two hits with two doubles and two RBIs. Aaron Groeneweg had two hits, including a double with an RBI.

On Monday, the Outlaws lost 6-5 to Parkston in a regional game.

Derek Bialas threw five innings for Parkston to pick up the win. He allowed one earned run, walked two and struck out five.

Parkston's Sterling Kinneberg and Zach Scott each had one hit with an RBI.

Deinert threw five innings and was tagged with the loss. He gave up four hits, two earned runs and five walks. He struck out two.

Deinert had three hits with a double, a triple and two RBIs and Denning was 1-for-3 with an RBI.

The Outlaws (8-4) play Sunday in Mount Vernon against Beresford at 2 p.m. After that, the team hosts Bon Homme in a JV-varsity doubleheader.
