RAPID CITY -- A lost hunter from Alexandria was found Thursday in the Black Hills, thanks in part to a thermal imaging drone.

The Pennington County Sheriff's Office Friday said that a 72-year-old man from Alexandria was reported missing around 9 p.m. Thursday while elk hunting with friends. He was found about 90 minutes later by a sheriff's deputy near the intersection of Custer Limestone Road and Boles Canyon Road. The man, who was not identified, was uninjured. The Pennington and Custer County Search and Rescue team was involved with finding the man, and a news release cited the use of a thermal drone in helping find the man.

The man was found in western Pennington County, about 10 miles east of Newcastle, Wyoming, and 22 miles west of Hill City.

He is the second hunter that has been reported missing in the Black Hills this month. Larry Genzlinger, 66, of Howard, was reported missing on Oct. 2 after hunting near Deerfield Lake in Pennington County. He has not been seen since.
