WATERTOWN-A pair of Letcher natives scored wins in the second South Dakota High School Finals Rodeo East Regionals, ending Sunday.

Mason Moody picked up a win in team roping, posting a total score of 19 points, edging Sisseton's Tate Johnson. Kaitlyn Sandland also won the goat tying competition after racking up 16 points, besting Chancellor's Shelby Lang by five. Sandland also took seventh in barrel racing.

Madi Moody, also from Letcher, took second in pole bending after being nipped by Elk Point's Riley Donnelly by one point.

Mitchell's Traden Lockwood was third in saddle bronc, while Ryan Bergeson was ninth in team roping and 10th in tiedown. Samantha Ford was 12th in team roping and 15th in barrel racing and pole bending. Fellow Mitchell native Tierney Musick was 14th in barrel racing and pole bending.

Shippy wins bull riding title at River Regionals

FORT PIERRE-Colome's Riggin Shippy took first in bull riding at the second River Regional as he edged Timber Lake's Chazz Gabe, 10-9.

Finn Hanson, of Burke, took first in steer wrestling, beating Hot Springs' Wyatt Tibbits, 19-16. Meanwhile Platte's Beau Dean also took first in team roping (19) points and was third in steer wrestling. Gregory's Blasius Steffen was second in team roping and fourth in tiedown. Winner's Dawson Phillips was second in tiedown and Linkyn Petersek (Colome) was third.
