Mitchell’s Corn Palace Stampede Rodeo was part of more than $1.25 million in prize money last week.

The four-day rodeo was one of 24 Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association competitions around North America from July 15-21. The 49th annual Corn Palace Stampede paid out $84,951 as cowboys and cowgirls continued to chase money during the July stretch.

The Saturday performance drew in 2,452 fans, while Sunday’s brought in 2,229 people. Combined with 1,171 fans on Thursday and 1,831 fans on Friday, bringing the four-day total to 7,683 for the week, well behind the 9,727 in attendance in 2018. The 2018 payout was $87,601.

Bartlett, Nebraska’s Lane Day was the all-around winner. He took home $1,090 in tie-down roping and steer wrestling.

The rest of the winners and their payouts include: Gavin DeRose, bareback riding ($1,839); Tee Burress, steer wrestling average ($1,676); Jon Peterson/Trae Smith, team roping ($2,588 each); Chet Smith, saddle bronc riding ($2,493); Quay Howard, tie-down roping average ($1,402); Shaylee Hindman, barrel racing ($2,666); Fulton Rutland and Hunter Ball, bull riding ($2,391 each).
