YANKTON-Branden Oropeza powered Dakota Wesleyan University to an 11-5 Game One win over Mount Marty College on Tuesday.

The junior went 4-for-4, hit a two-run homer and drove in five runs in the Tigers win over the Lancers. DWU lost Game Two of the Great Plains Athletic Conference baseball doubleheader 5-3.

Trailing 3-1 entering the fourth inning, DWU's Jared Neilan hit a two-run homer to knot the score at 3. Oropeza broke the tie with a two-RBI single in the fifth inning and smacked a two-run homer in the seventh to cap off his perfect day at the plate.

Tyler Waddle earned the win, scattered eight hits, gave up five earned runs, walked two and struck out one in 4 1/3 innings pitched.

DWU let a 3-0 lead slip away in Game Two. Brody Kunzmann socked a two-run homer in the second inning and Zach Uttecht's solo shot in the third put the Tigers ahead 3-0. The Lancers plated three in the fifth to pull ahead 4-3 and added another in the sixth.

The Tigers (7-13, 2-3 GPAC) will play at South Dakota State University at 3 p.m. today in a nine-inning contest.
