Oppold named GPAC men’s basketball player of the week

Koln Oppold was named the Great Plains Athletic Conference men’s basketball player of the week.

Dakota Wesleyan University forward Koln Oppold was named the Great Plains Athletic Conference men’s basketball player of the week.

The junior had a pair of double-doubles in DWU’s two wins. He recorded 17 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and a steal in a win over Dakota State. Then, in a win over Doane, the Sioux Falls native posted 21 points, 13 rebounds, five assists, three blocks and three steals.

This season, he averages 13.9 points, 9.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game during DWU’s 12-1 start to the year. The Tigers host Concordia at 8 p.m. today at the Corn Palace.
