ORANGE CITY, Iowa -- Northwestern (Iowa) snapped Dakota Wesleyan University’s four-game winning streak on Wednesday. The Red Raiders held the DWU women to 16 points in the second half during a 66-46 win in Great Plains Athletic Conference play.

DWU led 30-27 at the break, but couldn’t carry that momentum for the final two quarters. A Natalie Gottlob bucket gave DWU a 35-31 lead with 7:48 to play in the third quarter, but Northwestern answered with a 16-0 run. The Tigers didn’t score until Tripp native Matti Reiner made a 3-pointer with 56 seconds remaining in the quarter.

The Red Raiders, who shot 42.3 percent, led by 20 points for much of the fourth quarter. Emilee Danner and Molly Schany scored 12 and 11 points, respectively, though its strength came on the defensive end.

DWU was held to 29.6 percent shooting and 5-for-18 from 3-point range. It turned it over 21 times, including Schany and Danner each having two steals.

Reiner scored 16 points on 5-for-13 shooting, while Rynn Osthus added 11 points and six rebounds. Haidyn Pitsch, who added seven points, was the only other Tiger to eclipse five points in the loss.
