MITCHELL — The Mitchell Pheasants Forever Pheasant Country Chapter held its 38th Annual Wildlife Seed Distribution event on Saturday, April 1 at the Aurora Cooperative located east of Mitchell.
Despite the inclement weather, there were more than 100 landowners who participated and traveled to Mitchell to pick up free seed corn to plant wildlife food plots. The seed corn was free with their Pheasant Country local membership.
Pheasant Country Habitat Chairman Mike Kuchera said he is happy to see many landowners participating in the program, which creates additional habitat and food for the pheasants and deer. Kuchera thanked the participating seed companies and National Pheasants Forever staff for their efforts to make the event possible.
"We are also thankful for the local businesses who made this possible with the use of their properties and the donated rolls and coffee and sandwiches that were provided to attendees," Kuchera said.
The chapter also sold live traps, as well as milo and millet seed at a reduced price to the member landowners in attendance.
