MITCHELL — Pheasant Country — the local Pheasants Forever chapter (No. 872) for Mitchell — held its 38th annual Landowner Appreciation Banquet on Sunday, Feb. 5 at the Moose Lodge, with more than 100 individuals in attendance.

Pheasant Country chapter President Dave Allen introduced chapter Habitat Chairman Mike Kuchera, who handed out more than $10,000 in payments to landowners who participated in the current tree and shelterbelt program. A new enhanced tree program was introduced.

Local Pheasants Forever farm bill biologists Sydney Settles, of Mitchell, and Justin Enfield, of Woonsocket, were there with a display and to visit with Pheasants Forever landowners about available programs for wildlife habitat.

The local Fast Draw Chapter members were there to add a little fun and competition to the day. Everyone enjoyed a delicious meal and had fun participating in many raffles and leaving with door prizes.

For questions on available programs, call Mike Kuchera at 605-996-1120.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "Mitchell Republic." Often, the "Mitchell Republic" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
