No. 9 DWU women down Doane

CRETE, Neb. -- The No. 9 Dakota Wesleyan University women's basketball team led to Doane to 31 percent shooting from the field for a 63-43 Great Plains Athletic Conference victory on Saturday in Crete, Nebraska.

CRETE, Neb. -- The No. 9 Dakota Wesleyan University women’s basketball team led to Doane to 31 percent shooting from the field for a 63-43 Great Plains Athletic Conference victory on Saturday in Crete, Nebraska.

DWU (19-2, 10-2 GPAC) received 17 points from Amber Bray on 5-of-6 shooting from the floor, while Erica Herrold chipped in 15 points. Rylie Osthus and Ashley Bray each finished the game with nine points as the Tigers went 19-of-47 from the field (40 percent), 12-of-25 from behind the arc (48 percent) and 13-20 from the line (65 percent). Osthus dished out six assists, while Chesney Nagel added seven points, seven rebounds and four assists.

DWU led 15-7 after the first quarter and 29-19 at halftime. Doane was able to cut DWU’s lead down to four points in the second half, but DWU pulled away in the fourth quarter for the win.

Doane was led by Hanah Barnard, who scored 17 points and Jenna Nieveen added 10 points. Doane went 15-of-48 from the field (31 percent), 3-of-17 (17 percent) and 10-of-13 (76 percent).

DWU plays Morningside on Wednesday in Sioux City, Iowa.
