No. 1 Mustangs too much for Tigers

SIOUX CITY, Iowa--No. 1 Morningside backed up its Great Plains Athletic Conference regular-season title with the conference tournament championship by defeating No. 3-seeded Dakota Wesleyan University 80-59 on Tuesday in Sioux City, Iowa.

SIOUX CITY, Iowa-No. 1 Morningside backed up its Great Plains Athletic Conference regular-season title with the conference tournament championship by defeating No. 3-seeded Dakota Wesleyan University 80-59 on Tuesday in Sioux City, Iowa.

The reigning national champions were led by Madison Braun's 24 points.

Erica Herrold scored a 21 points to lead the Tigers in the loss.

Morningside led 39-30 at half and closed the first quarter on a 10-0 run to take a 20-16 lead after a strong opening five minutes from the Tigers.

Both teams will compete in the NAIA national tournament next week.
