EMERY -- Runs were hard to come by on Tuesday until Mount Vernon plated six in the 11th inning of an 8-2 win over Dimock-Emery in Sunshine League play.
The Mustangs recorded six hits in the 11th, including an RBI double from Briggs Havlik. Eric Giblin hit a two-run single later in the inning, followed by Luke Tiesler and Baley Miller both hitting an RBI single, too. Tiesler, Miller and Tate Deinert all had two hits.
Deric Denning notched the win, striking out 16 in a 10-inning effort which saw him throw 192 pitches. He gave up two runs (one earned).
Drew Kitchens suffered the loss for the Raptors, allowing four earned runs in 2 2/3 innings of relief. He also had one of Dimock-Emery’s five hits.
Mount Vernon (9-2) travels to Parkston today. Dimock-Emery (10-3) plays Winner/Colome today in Emery.
