The Mitchell Mad Dogs lost 10-2 to Mount Vernon in amateur baseball action Friday at Drake Field in Mitchell.
The winning pitcher for Mount Vernon was Nick Young, he threw eight innings. Phil Malde threw the ninth inning. Zach London had a home run, Chase Hetland had three hits and scored four runs. Sean DeVries and Brett Young each had a double for Mount Vernon. Freddy Ellis had a hit and scored a run and Eric Denning and Nick Young each had hits as well.
Alex Loes took the loss for Mitchell. He threw six innings, gave up three runs -- two earned -- and struck out nine. The Mad Dogs scored two runs on five hits. Alex Loes, Tyler Earls, Jason Skinner, Jordan Piper and Marty Takagi each had a hit for Mitchell.
The Mad Dogs are back in action on Sunday when they travel to Alexandria. Game time is set for 5 p.m.
PARKSTON MUDCATS 4,
ALEXANDRIA -- The Parkston Mudcats defeated Alexandria 4-1 Friday night in Sunshine League amateur baseball action in Alexandria.
Brady Nolz took the win for the Mudcats. He gave up seven hits, struck out 11 and had allowed six walks. Matt Malloy had a double and a single, Anthony Williams had a double and a single and Dylan Dwyer had a double and a single for the Mudcats.
Chris Marek took the loss on the mound for Alexandria.
The Mudcats are back in action on Sunday when they take on the Parkston Bull Heads at 2 p.m.
PARKSTON ROCK BASS 3
PARKSTON-- The Parkston Rock Bass defeated Dimock/Emery 3-2 Friday night in Parkston in a Sunshine League amateur baseball game.
Parkston grabbed the win on a walk off single by Dylan Mogck.
Richie Wiese took the win for Parkston, he pitched two innings and gave up one, unearned run. Billy Murtha was the starting pitcher; he pitched seven innings, allowed three hits one earned run, walked four and struck out three.
For the Rock Bass, James Boehmer went 3-for-4 and had a stolen base, Trevor Salmonson went 2-for-4 and Mogck was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Murtha scored two runs.
The losing pitcher for Dimock/Emery was Jason Schmidt.
Parkston improves to 5-4 overall and 5-4 in the league. The Rock Bass are back in action on Sunday when they travel to Mount Vernon. Game time is set for 5 p.m.
Dimock/Emery hosts Platte on Sunday, game time is set for 7 p.m.
