YANKTON – Mount Marty University has selected Augustana University assistant coach Collin Authier to lead the Lancer men’s basketball program as the new head coach.

Authier has spent the last seven seasons as a lead assistant for Vikings coach Tom Billeter and 14 years overall as a college basketball assistant. With Augustana, he helped the Vikings to the 2016 NCAA Division II national championship and a 151-57 overall record in the last seven years. Prior to returning to Sioux Falls, he spent three years at Division I Texas A&M-Corpus Christi as an assistant.

“We wanted a leader and a good basketball coach,” said Andy Bernatow, interim athletic director and longtime head baseball coach at MMU, in a statement. “When we started the search, we had conversations with players, alumni, athletic staff and administration. In every conversation, the importance of leadership and the right community fit came to the forefront. I’m happy we’ve found that with Coach Authier.”

Authier replaces Todd Lorensen, who resigned after two seasons as Lancers head coach in June. Mount Marty was 31-29 under Lorensen and made the GPAC Tournament championship game in 2021 to cap an 11-17 season.
