Mitchell’s Volesky places second at SDGA women’s senior championship


SIOUX FALLS -- The 44th annual South Dakota Golf Association women’s senior championship at Elmwood Golf Course saw Mitchell’s Tara Volesky shoot a 21-over-par 165 to tie for second place.

She shot an 84 in the first round, and then ended the tournament with an 81 on the second day. On Saturday, she shot a birdie on Hole No. 10 to go with seven pars. Volesky added a birdie on Hole No. 18 and eight pars to close the tournament.

Aberdeen’s Jackie Witlock edged Volesky, Pierre’s Jennifer Stalley and Volga’s Joan Hegerfeld-Baker by two shots. Witlock carded 78 strokes in the first round and 85 in the second.
