MITCHELL — The heart of amateur baseball in South Dakota will host the state's crown jewel tournament once again in 2024.

Cadwell Park in Mitchell will host the South Dakota Amateur Baseball Association's Class B state tournament, plus serve as the final site for the Class A event in 2024, according to Jim Johnston, tournament director for the Mitchell Baseball Association when it hosts the event. The commissioners of the South Dakota Amateur Baseball Association are expected to make the announcement later this month.

It will be the 35th time in stadium history that Cadwell Park has hosted the state tournament, with Mitchell serving as the event's most frequent host since 1975.

Mitchell has hosted the tournament each year since 2019 and is already planned to host the event in 2023. Augustana's Ronken Field was the last site outside of Mitchell to host the 12-day, 31-game event in 2018.

Dates for 2024 have not yet been announced. The 2023 event will run from Aug. 2-13 in Mitchell.
