HARRISBURG-The Mitchell High School boys tennis team picked up a pair of wins over Harrisburg and Sioux Falls Roosevelt on Tuesday in Harrisburg.
Mitchell blanked the Tigers 9-0 and topped Roosevelt 6-3 to improve to 17-1 on the season.
MHS head coach Pat Moller said it was the first time the Kernels played at Harrisburg as the Tigers are just trying to build a program.
"It went really well," Moller said. "Anytime you can beat a Sioux Falls school, it feels like a bigger win."
In Flight No. 1, Alex Hegg dropped a 6-3, 6-3 match to Roosevelt's Logan Barr, while Jacob Dahme fell 6-3, 6-3 to Roosevelt's Spencer Smith. Barr and Smith topped Hegg and Dahme 6-3, 6-1 in the Kernels' only doubles loss on the day.

"Logan Barr has risen up to one of the top two or three players in the state," Moller said. "He really showed that today and looked really strong."
Hegg picked up a 6-3, 6-3 win over Harrisburg's Jakson Stoutamire, while Dahme picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win over Ben Ostebee. Gray Determan (No. 3), Carter Cavanaugh (No. 4), Jared Suelflow (No. 5) and Adam Loes (No. 6) each earned wins against Harrisburg and Roosevelt.
"Jacob just had an off day," Moller said. "It just didn't seem to go right for him, but it was nice to see the rest of the team pick those two (guys) up."
Along with the varsity match wins, Mitchell picked up 27 wins out of 32 junior varsity matches.
"They were all real successful," Moller said. "It's almost overwhelming to watch these kids come on board and fall in love with the sport."
Mitchell (17-1, 9-0 ESD) competes in another triangular on Friday in Watertown.
