SIOUX FALLS -- After dropping two of its three doubles matches, the Mitchell High School boys' tennis team bounced back by winning all six singles matches in a 7-2 win over Sioux Falls Roosevelt Tuesday in Sioux Falls.
"It was apparent to me that we had more talent and I was disappointed in how we came out in doubles," head coach Pat Moller said. "We've struggled in doubles all year."
Beau Brown and Brenden Lehr teamed up for the only doubles win for the Kernels' varsity team. The two dropped the first set 4-6 but came back and took the second set before winning the third-set tiebreaker 10-7.
Brown followed that up with an exciting singles match at the No. 2 singles. He and Jordan Taraslow went into a third-set tiebreak in which Brown came out on top 11-9.
"They were going back and forth that entire match," Moller said. "Beau didn't have his best game but showed a lot of guts by pulling that one out."

The win improved Mitchell's record to 8-5. The Kernels next match is against Watertown Friday in Watertown.
