WATERTOWN -- The Mitchell High School softball team split a twin bill with Watertown on Tuesday. The Kernels captured the first game 8-5, while they fell 4-1 in the second game.
In Game 1, Keirstyn Krcil earned the win after allowing nine hits and five earned runs in five innings. Cameryn Krogman went 3 of 4 and drove in three runs, including a two-run homer in the second inning. The Kernels finished with 13 hits.
Kathleen Nash went 3 of 4 and knocked in two runs. Krcil and Madelyn Henglefelt each had two hits. Ally Barlean, Kara Magee and Sicely Allhiser each had a hit.
In Game 2, Krogman had two of the team’s 10 hits. Nash, Krcil, Barlean, Magee, Macey Linke, Allhiser, Brooklyn Jarding and Ruby Uithoven each had a hit. Krcil took the loss, allowing 11 hits, three earned runs and striking out four batters in seven innings.
Mitchell (2-14) will host Brookings at 6 p.m. on Thursday at Cadwell Sports Complex.
