Mitchell softball lost two straight against Sioux Falls Jefferson

Kernels dropped two games to Sioux Falls Jefferson at home on Tuesday.


The Mitchell Kernels softball team lost two straight games Tuesday at home against Sioux Falls Jefferson.

Mitchell out-hit Jefferson 13 to 12 in Game 1, but lost 10-6. In Game 2, Jefferson shut out Mitchell in a 4-0 win.

Kate had three hits and three RBIs while Keirstyn Krcil went 3-for-4 at the plate. Kelsey Amick had two hits and scored two runs while Ellie Kisor had two hits, one RBI and scored two runs as well. Brooklyn Jarding, Madelynn Steiner and Ally Barlean all chipped in with one hit each.

Krcil pitched all six innings for the Kernels, striking out three and surrendered seven earned runs on 12 hits.

In Game 2, Mitchell managed three hits but couldn’t score a run in six innings played.


Krcil, Nash and Ruby Uithoven all had one hit each for Mitchell. Macey Linke stood at the mound for five innings and threw 95 times. She struck out three batters, but allowed four runs and four hits.

Mitchell travels to Brandon Valley on Thursday.
