HARRISBURG-The Mitchell High School girls golf team finished in 10th place at the Harrisburg Invite at Spring Creek Golf Course on Thursday in Harrisburg.
Mitchell carded a team score of 427, while Yankton won the event with a score of 338.
"It wasn't exactly how I or the girls wanted to start the season," Mitchell head coach Keri Munsen said. "We are a young team and don't have a lot of varsity experience."
Ashley Zimmer led the Kernels with a score of 97, while Jordyn Cranny carded a 98 and Kaitlyn Uithoven finished with a 113. Kaylie Zens rounded out Mitchell's team score with a 119.
"The conditions weren't the best today," Munsen said. "It was very windy and I think that got into the girls heads a little bit."

Munsen said Cranny had an impressive debut except for a couple of holes.
"She had pretty much a great day," Munsen said. "She's been much improved from last year."
Mitchell competes in a quad on Thursday in Yankton.
