Mitchell junior Legion wasn't able to hold onto an early lead as Sioux Falls West won 17-7.

Sioux Falls outhit Mitchell 17-5. In the field, Mitchell committed six errors.

Mitchell scored three runs in each the second and fourth innings. Its two-run second was highlighted by back-to-back RBI singles from Isaac Rew and Jacob Schumacher.

Rew led the team with two hits, while Schumacher finished 1-for-2 with two RBIs. Nick Lord and Colby Gillen both added a hit.

On the mound, Tate Ellwein suffered the loss, lasting 5 1/3 innings and giving up nine runs (seven earned) on 11 hits and two walks. He also struck out two. Masen Thompson allowed eight runs (three earned) over 1 1/3 innings.

Mitchell junior Legion (7-27) travels to Brandon Valley for a 5 p.m. doubleheader on Friday.
