Mitchell Junior Legion sweeps Aberdeen in doubleheader

Mitchell Junior Legion had a pair of double-digit wins over Aberdeen on Thursday at Cadwell Park. It opened the doubleheader with a 13-3 win, and then completed the sweep with a 12-0 win in five innings.

In Game 2, Mitchell scored eight runs in the second inning, then tacked on four more in the fourth. It only needed four hits, as it drew eight walks. In the second, Mitchell drew four walks and was hit by three pitches to spark the big frame.

Jace Larson allowed one hit in a complete-game effort, as he struck out seven batters.

Andrew Richardston took the loss for Aberdeem, allowing 11 runs (9 earned) on two hits and eight walks in 3.1 innings.

In Game 1, Mitchell recorded nine hits, highlighted by Seth Muth’s triple. It finished with 17 hits, including five doubles. Mason Geraets hit three doubles, while Ty Neugebauer and Dylan Soulek each hit one.


Larson finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Geraets, Muth and Jackson Ebert all drove in two runs. Riley McGinnis, Brock Sparks, Neugebauer and Ebert all had a pair of hits, as well.

Landon Waddell fanned three batters on the mound, giving up three unearned runs on three hits and five walks. For Aberdeen, Josh Steinwandt took the loss. He allowed 10 runs (five earned). Aberdeen finished with three hits.

Mitchell (2-1) travels to Renner for a 5 p.m. doubleheader Monday.
