ABERDEEN -- The Mitchell High School gymnastics team had another strong showing to open the season. The Kernels notched a first-place finish at the Aberdeen Invite, scoring 146.350 team points ahead of second-place Watertown (143.900).

Watertown’s Brooke Bollinger (37.950) claimed the all-around title, followed by Aberdeen’s Maggie Fite (35.950) and Mitchell’s Emily Moody (35.900).

Moody placed first on vault, scoring a 9.400 to edge Bollinger (9.300). Chelsey Mohr (9.000) tied for fourth for the Kernels, as well.

Mitchell’s other first-place finish came on beam, as Maddi Lord scored a 9.540 to win the event. Masy Mock (9.300) and Sidney Malde (9.300) both tied for fifth, as well.

On uneven bars, Mitchell’s Bentley Bates (9.150) finished in second place behind Bollinger. Joslin Sommerville (8.950) and Kyanna Gropper (8.800) took fourth and fifth, respectively, while Moody earned ninth place. (8.500).

Mitchell had four top-five finishers on floor. Bates (9.700) led the Kernels in second place and Moody (9.500) placed third. Sommerville (9.450) earned fourth and Malde (9.350) notched fifth place for the Kernels.

Mitchell hosts the Jill McCormick Invitational on Saturday.
