Mitchell Gold swept a doubleheader of teener baseball games against Watertown on Thursday at Drake Field. Mitchell won the first game 15-0 in three innings and won 12-0 in the second contest.
In the first game, Mitchell scored five runs in the first, two in the second and added eight more in the third inning, outhitting Watertown 10-0 and only committed one error to Watertown's four. Eight different players recorded a hit for Mitchell. Jace Larson went 2-for-2 with two RBIs, three runs and the game's only triple, while Joe VanOverschelde went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Noah Hill only needed 28 pitches in the win. He struck out two batters and walked one in his shortened, no-hit effort.
The no-hit innings continued in the second game, a 12-0 Mitchell win in four frames. Brock Sparks threw all four innings for Mitchell. He struck out a batter and only walked one.
Sparks also helped himself at the plate. He went 1-for-2 with an RBI and three runs. Five other Mitchell players had a hit, as well. Brandon Sparks led the team with three runs.
