FORT PIERRE -- The Mitchell Marlins continued its hot start to the season by lighting up Oahe in a 7-0 win on Sunday at Fort Pierre Expo Center.
The Marlins lobbed 12 shots at the Oahe goaltender in the first period and finally broke through on a goal by Tristen Zimmer at the 12:37 mark and Jenna Grosdidier added another less than four minutes later.
Mitchell broke the game open in the second period with four goals on 21 shots. Kelsey Amick notched two goals in the first period, with the first coming on an assist by Zimmer and another from Samantha Kludt. Brooke Jarman scored an unassisted tally at the 12:09 mark and Grosdidier scored her second at 16:58.
Jarman added her second goal in the third period to give the Marlins 17 goals in their first two games.
Sadie Kludt earned a 10-save shutout for the Marlins, while Oahe’s Abigail Stewart-Fromm made 33 saves in defeat for Oahe.

Mitchell (2-0) travels to Brookings for a 7 p.m. faceoff on Saturday at Larson Ice Center.
