HURON -- The Mitchell High School boys soccer were one half from victory, but could not stop a second-half surge from Huron.
The Kernels took a 2-1 lead into intermission, but Huron scored three three goals in the second half to score a 4-2 win.
“This was a game we have been training for with respect to the tempo of the game,” MHS head coach Ken Novak said. “I was so proud of our guys because we kept up the offensive pressure and really won some key challenges on defense.”
Jamie Wear and Daniel Dutra scored the Kernel goals, both on direct kicks, but Novak pointed to the play of seventh-grader Easton Neuendorf.
“(Neuendorf) played everywhere we needed him tonight -- forward, winger, defensive midfielder,” Novak said. “(I was) really impressed with his confidence to be a playmaker.”
