HARRISBURG - The Mitchell Black teener baseball team's push for a state championship took a hit Friday night at the South Dakota 14-and-Under Class A State Tournament, with a 10-3 loss to Rapid City Post 22
Brady Brosz started on the mound for Mitchell and threw five innings but was the losing pitcher, recording one strikeout. Peyton Nash threw the final inning for Mitchell in relief.
At the plate, Brady Hawkins and Hunter Stahle went 1-for-3 and Logan Sparks was 1-for-2.
Mitchell Black will meet Brandon at 1:30 p.m. today in an elimination game. Rapid City, which is undefeated in the tournament, will take on Watertown at 4 p.m., with the winner advancing to Sunday's championship round. Brandon, Watertown and Mitchell all have one loss. Sunday's championship begins at 1 p.m., with an if necessary contest at 3:30 p.m.
Mitchell White drops two games

BROOKINGS - The Mitchell White teener baseball team lost twice Friday in pool play, eliminating the team from qualifying for the championship round at the South Dakota 13-and-under Class A State Tournament in Brookings.
Mitchell lost to Sioux Falls East 8-3 and Pierre 14-4 in the White pool. No other information was reported.
Mitchell will still play a pool game today against Renner at 12:30 p.m. at South Dakota State University's Erv Huether Field to close out their tournament.
