Mitchell Black rallies to pick up win at Brookings tourney
BROOKINGS--Mitchell Black split a pair of games at the Brookings tournament over the weekend. It defeated Sioux Falls East, 7-6, on Saturday, then dropped a 15-1 contest in four innings to Pierre on Sunday.

Mitchell scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to secure a come-from-behind win. Dylan Soulek hit a two-run single to tie the game at 6-all, then eventually stole home on a pick-off attempt for the game-winning run. Soulek also struck out five batters in his five-inning start, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits.
Carter Miller and Noah Larson both had two hits for Mitchell, while Miller also drove in two runs. Connor Hohn pitched the final two frames, giving up four runs (two earned). He helped Mitchell hold Sioux Falls to four hits.
Hohn scored on Soulek's sacrifice fly in the third inning for Mitchell's only run against Pierre. However, Pierre scored multiple runs in all four innings as Tanner Puetz suffered the loss. He gave up five runs (one earned) in 2/3 innings.
Hohn had Mitchell's only hit, while Pierre racked up eight and struck out four Mitchell batters.
Mitchell (7-12-2) hosts Aberdeen on Wednesday.
