Mike Miller hoping to return next week

Cleveland Cavaliers forward and Mitchell native Mike Miller is not expected to clear concussion protocol until Monday at the earliest, Bleacher Report reported Thursday.

Cleveland Cavaliers forward and Mitchell native Mike Miller is not expected to clear concussion protocol until Monday at the earliest, Bleacher Report reported Thursday.

Miller has been working out with the team, but will not play in Thursday night's game against Oklahoma City or against New Orleans Friday.

Miller looks to get back in the lineup for next week's homestand, when the Cavaliers host Charlotte on Monday, Atlanta on Wednesday and Brooklyn on Friday.

The former Mitchell Kernel was unintentionally hit in the head by Knicks star Carmelo Anthony in the fourth quarter of a game that the Cavaliers won 90-87 on Dec. 4. Miller played 11 minutes in the game and did not score.

The first-year Cavalier is averaging 1.5 and 2.1 rebounds in 12 minutes per game for Cleveland. Miller did in Friday night's contest against the Toronto Raptors and is likely to miss Monday's game in Brooklyn.
