MHS gymnasts win Lolly Forseth Invitational

SIOUX FALLS -- The Mitchell High School gymnastics teams edged rival Watertown and won the Lolly Forseth Invitational on Saturday.

The Kernels finished with 143.900 points, while the Arrows recorded 140.000 points.

Mitchell’s Emily Moody placed second in the all-around with 35.450 points. Watertown’s Brooke Bollinger captured the all-around title with 36.350 points.

Mitchell’s Joslin Sommerville claimed the vault title with 9.300 points, while Moody was just behind in second with 9.250 points. The Kernels finished second-through-fifth in the bars, with Bentley Bates (9.300) finishing in second place. Somerville (9.000) and Moody (8.850) finished third and fourth, respectively. Kyanna Gropper and Kyra Gropper tied for fifth with 8.750 points.

In the floor, Mitchell’s Sidney Malde (9.450) and Sommerville (9.450) tied for second place. Bates took fifth with 9.250 points. Mitchell’s Maddi Lord took third in the beam (9.150).

The Kernels will host a triangular on Thursday at 4 p.m. at MEGA.
