PIERRE -- The Mitchell High School girls soccer team started a new winning streak on Tuesday, as the Kernels topped Pierre, 1-0.

It’s the sixth clean sheet of the season for the Kernels, despite Pierre owning a 21-10 advantage in shots. Caroline Titze saved eight shots to hold Pierre scoreless.

“We were fortunate in the second half to be able to deny Pierre some scoring chances,” MHS coach Bob Lemon said.

Meanwhile, Mia Mullenmeister netted the match’s only goal in the first half.

“We had a hard time connecting passes and Pierre was a step faster,” Lemon said. “Even though the game was a challenge at times, we still managed to close it out and secure the win. We never gave up. The defense was tested but we held them out.”
