In an up-tempo game, the Mitchell High School boys soccer couldn’t keep pace with Huron in an 8-0 loss on Thursday.
“Even though we let in too many goals, overall I was pleased with how we played in the middle third of the field, especially winning the ball and starting counter attacks,” MHS coach Ken Novak said. “Sounds strange when the score seems to suggest a runaway game, but our guys played to the final whistle."
Mitchell had 14 shots on goal in the loss. Skylar Kurtenbach had a team-high four shots, while Elijah Novak and Jamison Wear both had three shots. Easton Neuendorf added two shots.
In goal, Logan Oehlerking saved 19 shots. Malachi Branch recorded 10 saves as the backup goalkeeper.
"Malachi Branch came in as our reserve goalkeeper, and kept a clean sheet,” Novak said.
