BROOKINGS -- The Mitchell High School boys soccer team allowed double-digit goals in an 11-2 loss to Brookings on Tuesday.

Elijah Novak and Skylar Kurtenbach both scored for the Kernels, as Kurtenbach’s goal came on a penalty kick. Jamison Wear also earned an assist. Mitchell finished with nine shots as a team, as coach Ken Novak praised Easton Neuendorf, Caden Olegario, Blake Peterson and Brenen Rose after the contest.

"Brenen Rose has been a utility player for us all season,” Novak said. “He plays everything from fullback to center midfielder to winger. He has a strong work ethic and is one of the fastest players on the team."

Logan Oehlerking saved 22 shots in goal.

Mitchell (1-10-1) travels to Aberdeen Central today.
