PLANKINTON-After a high-scoring first quarter that saw Mitchell Christian School and Mount Vernon/Plankinton combine for 58 points, the two teams settled into a defensive struggle for the remainder of the game.
In the end, the Golden Eagles were able to hold on for a 47-42 win over the Titans in boys basketball action on Saturday in Plankinton.
Alec Nelson had another strong all-around performance for Mitchell Christian (9-9), scoring a game-high 24 points, while also making eight steals, grabbing five rebounds and dishing out three assists. Ty Vander Pol added eight points and nine rebounds in the win.
Nolan Sampson was the lone MVP (6-12) player in double figures, scoring 14 points and grabbing five rebounds in the loss.
Mitchell Christian is back in action against Hanson today at the Corn Palace.
