MILLER - Despite a slow start in the first half, the Mitchell Christian girls basketball team defeated Sunshine Bible Academy on Monday night, 33-19 in Miller.
Emily Reynen picked up a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds, while Abbie Reynen added 11 points and six rebounds. The Golden Eagles shot 15-of-39 from the field for 39 percent and 2-of-9 for 22 percent from the free throw line.
"We had a slow start and some cold shooting the first half," Golden Eagles head coach Jackie Van Laecken said. "Defensively, the girls did a good job containing the inside game. The second half was much better for our girls offensively."
Sunshine Bible Academy was led by Sarah Pedersen with 11 points and 13 rebounds, for a double-double. Susan Wilken had four points and seven rebounds in the loss. The Crusaders shot 6-of-47 from the field for 13 percent and 7-of-8 from the line for 88 percent.
Mitchell Christian (7-9) hosts James Valley Christian tonight, while Sunshine Bible Academy (7-8) visits Kimball/White Lake on Thursday in White Lake.
