Mitchell Christian’s defensive effort in the first half propelled it to its 10th win of the season Monday.
The Golden Eagles girls’ basketball team defeated Corsica/Stickney 51-33.
“The girls play great team defense,” said Mitchell Christian girls’ coach Jackie Van Laecken, whose team outscored the Jaguars 32-13 in the first half. “We applied pressure and got some good turnovers. I’m very proud of the way we played.”
The Golden Eagles (10-1) were led by Emily Reynen and Ashley Schmit in scoring with 16 and 11 points. Reynen and Schmidt each had nine rebounds, while Cassidy Graham added 10 points for MCS, which was 8-of-10 from the line.
Corsica/Stickney’s Jackie Dethlefsen had 10 rebounds and seven points, Hope Menning tallied 12 points and Micayla Bamberg added eight.

MCS plays at Avon tonight, while the Jaguars (7-5) play Viborg-Hurley Monday in Viborg.
