IROQUOIS -- The Mitchell Christian boys basketball team relied on its defense in a dominating 49-6 win over Iroquois/Doland on Friday.

The Golden Eagles scored 21 points in the first quarter, and held Iroquois/Doland scoreless in the second quarter. Mitchell Christian capped the win with a 19-point third quarter.

“Defensively, they really did a good job communicating,” MCS coach Jesse Tolsma said. “We really talked about making them uncomfortable, making someone else not used to scoring making those decisions.”

Max Reynen scored a team-high 15 points, as he made 6 of 9 shots. He also sank a 3-pointer for the Golden Eagles.

“He’s done a really good job this offseason working hard. He was really a steady hand for us,” Tolsma said about Reynen. “Defensively, some easy turnovers got him in a rhythm early.”
