McCook/Miner drops season opener

SALEM -- Humboldt/Hartford recorded 16 hits in a 20-7 win over McCook/Miner on Tuesday in Legion baseball action.

Humboldt/Hartford scored six runs in the second inning, then tacked on eight runs in the fifth inning. It also drew seven walks and added five extra-base hits, while striking out 10 batters on the mound.

Riley Genzlinger homered for McCook/Miner (0-1), finishing 4-for-4 with three RBIs. Tyce Ortman and Isaac Feldhaus each added two hits, as Feldhaus also drove in two runs. Genzlinger took the loss on the mound, allowing nine runs (three earned) in a two-inning start.
