Mitchell's Robert McCardle continued his strong season by earning a first-place finish at the Sioux Falls Washington Warrior Wrestling Invite on Saturday in Sioux Falls.
"It was a good day for him, he wrestled well," Mitchell head coach Travis Carpenter said. "I was really happy for him."
McCardle, a senior wrestler at 285 pounds, defeated Brandon Valley's Clayton Ebright in the first-place match while improving his record to 12-2 on the year.
Mitchell finished in seventh place out of eight teams with 98 points. Sioux Falls Roosevelt won the event with 207 points.
Seniors Tanner Vilhauer (145) and Ethan Parr each had second-place finishes for the Kernels, while senior Landon Neugebauer (138) finished in fourth.

"Tanner wrestled really well throughout the day, he didn't wrestle his greatest in the finals, but it was good to get to that point," Carpenter said. "Ethan wrestled great in the semifinals, but dug himself a little bit of a hole in the finals."
Mitchell hosts Aberdeen Central in a dual on Dec. 30 in Mitchell.
