HURON - Bolstered by five first period goals, the Mitchell Marlins girls varsity team cruised to a 12-1 victory over the Huron All-Stars on Friday night at Bergman Arena in Huron.
Ashley Jones had three goals and an assist to lead the Marlins, while Kaihlen Smith had two goals and three assists in the contest. Maddy Arnold, Kyla Konfrst and Bailey Hohn each had two goals for Mitchell and Sarah Zimmerman had a third period goal for the Marlins.
Huron's lone goal came from Brook Tschetter to start the third period after Mitchell led 9-0. The Marlins outshot the All Stars 56-6.
Katie Uithoven made five saves in the game for the Marlins, picking up the win.
The Marlins (3-4) host Brookings today at 7:30 p.m. at the Mitchell Activities Center.
