FORT PIERRE - Leading 3-2 early in the second period Sunday, the Mitchell Marlins girls hockey team scored the next six goals in its win over Oahe and cruised to a 9-2 win, stretching Mitchell's win streak to seven straight games. That victory followed a 4-2 win at Fort Pierre on Saturday.

On Sunday, Ashley Jones recorded a hat trick and added an assist for a four-point game for the Marlins, while Kelsey Amick had four assists in the win. Jenna Grosdidier scored twice and added an assist and Tiffany Hatwan netted a pair of goals. Kyla Konfrst and Rebecca Weber each scored as the Marlins posted a season-high for goals. Katelyn Uithoven made 15 saves for the win and Mitchell held a 29-17 advantage in shots on goal.

On Saturday, Weber, Amick, Ashley Zimmer and Maggie Dailey each scored, while Jones had two assists. Uithoven made 19 saves in the win.

The Marlins (7-1-1) will play a pair of games in Brookings next weekend, starting at 6:45 p.m. Saturday.

Marlin boys win in Nebraska

FREMONT, Neb. - Two goals in the second period and three more in the third were enough for the Mitchell Marlins boys hockey team to earn a 5-3 win at Fremont, Nebraska Sunday.

Down 1-0 after one period, Adam Loes converted a power-play goal in the second period, followed by Jake Jarman's goal to give the Marlins the lead. Austin Kerr scored 20 seconds into the third period and Drew Kitchens scored twice to seal the game.

Loes finished with a three-point game, as did Alexander Bergeson, who had three assists. Carter Stucky had two assists, joined by Jarman and Kitchens with two-point games. Nathan Zimmerman made 31 saves in the win, as the shot totals were 34 apiece.

Mitchell (3-1) hosts Sioux Falls at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Mitchell Activities Center.
