Marlin girls pump in five first-period goals to ice Huron


The Mitchell Marlins girls hockey team started the season with a resounding win on Friday.

The Marlins jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first period against the Huron All-Stars and eventually cruised to a 10-3 win at Mitchell Activity Center.

Jenna Grosdidier scored 4 minutes, 54 seconds into the game and went on to record a hat trick. Meanwhile, Kelsey Amick lit the lamp on four occasions, with two goals in the first and two in the third. Brooke Jarman also pitched in two goals and Brynlee Sabers added another.

Sadie Kludt stopped 17 of the 20 shots sent her way to earn the win for the Marlins in goal.

Ashley Busch recorded two goals and Alissa Ferguson made 32 saves for Huron.


Mitchell (1-0) faces Oahe at 1 p.m. on Sunday at the Oahe Expo Center in Fort Pierre.
