The Mitchell Marlins hockey team dropped a pair of weekend games against Brookings and Aberdeen. The Marlins lost to Brookings (4-0) and Aberdeen (9-1).
Against Brookings, Mitchell surrendered three goals in the first period en route to the shutout. The Marlins outshot the Rangers, 31-30. But they failed to get one into the net.
Brookings received two goals from Savannah Barber, while Kinzey Grendler and Kiran Vugteveen each netted goals. Mitchell’s Sadie Kludt recorded 26 saves.
Against Aberdeen, the Marlins trailed just 3-1 after two periods. But the Cougars erupted for six goals in the final period.
Aberdeen’s Kaitlyn Holland recorded a hat trick. Kelsey Amick scored Mitchell’s lone goal in the second period. Kludt finished with 43 saves.

Mitchell plays at Oahe on Jan. 3 in Fort Pierre.
